In this exercise, you will be introduced to Full Site Editing in WordPress.
Full Site Editing is intended to replace the “Customizer Experience” of classic themes, introducing a more consistent and potentially powerful way for site owners to have full control over the look and feel of their web sites.
To begin, first please download the starter content.
As well, please download the additional graphics for the exercise.
This is a Duplicator package, so once you unzip it, do the following:
- Rename the folder full-site-editing-introduction and then move it into htdocs
- Create a new database with a similar name using phpMyAdmin
- Start the Duplicator installation process. Be sure to choose the Advanced Option so you can create a new Admin account
- Don’t forget to create that new Admin account
Once you have installed the content, login and install the Neve FSE theme. When prompted to install Otter Blocks plugin, do so.
Note: there is also a “classic” Neve theme: make sure you install the once with FSE in the name.
Next, import all the graphics into the Media Library.
Now follow the steps set out in this Loom video series.
(If you’ve got this far, you’ve already done the steps in the first two videos)
